Description
Phosphorus (P) is an element found in aquaria in various forms, but mainly as ortho-phosphate, a chemical form which is a primary source of nutrition for algae. In particular, high concentrations of phosphates have a positive effect on the metabolism of green algae, while brown algae proliferate in the presence of high concentrations of silicates.

In addition to producing the undesirable effect of facilitating the proliferation of algae, high levels of phosphates can inhibit the calcification processes of corals and other invertebrates. The possible causes of the increase in the level of phosphates in an aquarium are many, including the decomposition of dead animal or vegetable organisms, decomposition of unused food, impurities present in the starting water or in the chemical additives used. Reducing the level of phosphates (and secondarily of silicates) is therefore a fundamental operation for the correct maintenance of your aquarium.

In most cases, P concentrations of the order of 0.05 ppm are recommended to keep your aquarium free from algae pests. Lower values, of the order of 0.01 ppm, are instead necessary for marine reef aquariums, in order to allow a correct growth of hard corals. The best method for reducing the concentration level of phosphates and silicates is the treatment of the water with a specifically designed product; REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 consists of Aluminum Oxide, in an optimized shape and size to increase the phosphate removal efficiency.

  • Resin for the elimination of phosphates and silicates
  • Effective decrease of phosphates and silicates thanks to the granular-metric characteristic
  • Prevents possible deterioration of the corals
  • Prevents the growth of undesired algae
  • Does not release soluble aluminium components or other toxic substances
  • ‎Suitable for Fresh Water, For Reef Aquariums, For Plant Aquariums, Suitable for Salt Water
  • 100 g of the product are sufficient for 100 – 200 litres of freshwater or seawater

Directions

Insert REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 in its net and rinse with reverse-osmosis water to eliminate residues and dust (the product may liberate plenty of heat the first time it comes into contact with water: use protective gloves and/or place the product in a container or cup for the first rinse). After which place this net in the filter or Sump, ensuring that there is a strong water flow. It is even more effective if used in a filter with fluid bed or in a phosphate reactor. REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 , as all absorbent material, is characterized by an maximum absorption capacity and must, therefore, be changed regularly if the phosphate level remains unaltered or lowers very gradually. For this reason it is important to test the phosphate concentration level in the aquarium regularly. Aluminium oxide and Iron hydroxide cannot be regenerated in any way, as phosphates and silicates are removed from the water through the formation of stable complexes on the surface. Therefore, REMOVER PO4 & SiO2 , once used, cannot be re-utilized.
